Progressive rock band Lisa LaRue 2KX has announced the forthcoming digital-release only EP titled, “Beautiful Life.” The EP consists of 3 songs of varying feel and genre, from beautiful classical guitar, to a ballad, to jazz. The project was conceived by Steve Adams, guitarist for Lisa LaRue 2KX, to highlight a way for artist’s to encourage and help the fans who never fail to show support when called upon. The project will benefit a progressive rock fan, whose spouse has cancer. Their family has also been facing foreclosure on their home as well as unemployment. “These fans have supported us and helped to even back our recording project through our fund raising drive, and when we discovered the family’s dilemma, we wanted to find a way to support back,” said LaRue. Joining 2KX for this benefit project are Dave Schiff (Frank Sinatra Jr. Orchestra, etc.) on tenor saxophone and alto flute, and John Baker (Mars Hollow) on vocals. Lyrics for the one track with vocals are by 2KX ‘poet laureate,’ Amy V. Simmons. A very special thanks to Frank Rosato and Don Schiff for mixing and mastering. This is a wonderful sampling of instrumental and vocal driven tracks set to highlight the best aspects of our 'beautiful life' on earth. The first track 'Beautiful Life' opens with great jazzy keys and mellow sax, before the guitars and drums ignite to add dimension to the sound. This is one of the two instrumental only tracks that are stunning in their composition and the way they capture an upbeat smooth jazz feel of a soft summer breeze filled day. The sax that layers over the top of the power bass is just amazing as the fluid keys drive through the middle, lead guitar in pursuit. 'Days with You' is the second instrumental track full of wonderful light keys and bass with good solid lead guitar and soft drums keeping the tempo. 'Forever is a Journey' closes out the EP, this time with lyrics and vocals. The lyrics are well worth the price of admission and John Baker's vocals sound better on this track than some of the tracks on Mars Hollow's new release this year. The wonderful guitar playing and Lisa's awesome keys make this the absolute highlight of the album. Help support someone in need and enjoy some uplifting music in these troubled times. The first two tracks, “Beautiful Life” & “Days With You” are instrumentals and the third track, "Forever Is a Journey" which contains expressive vocals courtesy of John Baker of Mars Hollow. All of the songs are all under 5 minutes long which in my opinion will attract fans of other genres to enjoy almost as much as a progressive rock fan. The “Beautiful Life EP” is a digital only release so that all of the proceeds go directly to benefit a progressive rock fan, whose spouse has cancer. As an insult to injury, they’re facing foreclosure on their home and unemployment. Lisa LaRue felt that the EP was the least she could do for her loyal fans who have supported her over the years. The core of Lisa LaRue Project 2KX band, is Lisa LaRue (keyboards), Steve Adams of ARZ (guitars), Don Schiff of Rocket Scientists (NS/Stick), and Merrill Hale of ARZ (drums). Joining them are Dave Schiff formerly of the Frank Sinatra Jr. Orchestra (tenor saxophone and alto flute on "Beautiful Life"), the aforementioned John Baker of Mars Hollow. Amy V. Simmons provided the lyrics for "Forever Is a Journey", which is hands down my favorite track of the three. All of the musician should be commended because they’ve have taken time out of their busy lives to contribute to this benefit project. The EP will be available exclusively through RockTunz on August 27th, 2011. I can’t think of a better way to show support within the progressive rock community, than to purchase this release.
